The signing of Kenny Rogers is looking like a steal so far for the Detroit Tigers. Rogers picked up his 9th win of the year with 8 solid innings of work as the Tigers cruised to a 7-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Lots of people balked at the contract given to Rogers, but he has earned every penny as he has led the Tigers staff both on and off the field. Rogers first chance at career win #200 will be in historic Wrigley Field vs. the Chicago Cubs.

Yes, Rogers is definitely been a great addition, like you said, not only on the mound but that veteran the younger guys can watch and learn from. Interesting to see what happens in the second half to him and hopefully it is something along the lines of what he said in the paper earlier in the week… pitching in the Texas heat in July and August after the All-Star break took a lot out of him in all his seasons there. Well if that is true something tells me he won’t see that Texas heat here!
