All signs are starting to point to former Rams head coach Mike Martz taking over the offensive coordinator position for the Lions. This has been rumored for a while, but an announcement could come as early as today. This would be a great move by the Lions.
One of the negatives would be that he probably won’t be here for more than a year, but if he can help get a solid offensive system in place then he will have done his job.

From what I hear it is only suppose to be for one year so I guess it can’t be that bad. I think it would be a good hiring, low risk, and maybe get some excitement in the offense for a change.
However, there are two problems with it. First we have a center that is so undersized it is sick and second we have a QB that is about as accurate as a school girl. I know he is a “mad scientist” and self proclaimed offensive genius, but damn, how much can one man do?

That’s the part I don’t quite like, the 1-year deal.
Would it be better to go with a younger OC who you know will be for a couple of years or take a gamble on Martz?
I like Martz and think it would be great, but will it help the team or set them back when he leaves after 1 season?
