It’s time to put “Fire Millen” to bed

I am bored with the Fire Millen movement. It’s time to move on. Ford likes Millen, Millen likes Marinelli, let’s see how it works this time. I am as big a Lions fan as anyone and I see lots of reasons for the Lions problems, and they aren’t just Millen.
Millen can’t be blamed for everything bad that’s happened with the Lions. Here’s some examples…
- Fernando Bryant’s injury problems - Millen can’t be blamed for injuries, plain and simple. I got so sick of hearing this.
- Mooch losing his players - Again I don’t blame Millen here. You can blame Millen for hiring Mooch, but when Mooch was hired everyone was excited and most thought it was a great move. Not many disagreed.
- Charles Rogers Problems - Sure Millen did draft Rogers, but I don’t think anyone expected him to have the injuries or off the field problems he had. His career started out fast and he looked like he was going to be something special before the first collarbone injury. Don’t see how that’s Millen’s fault.
- Quarterback situation - The only problem I see from Millen here is giving in to the signing of Garcia. Harrington has struggled, but how many games has he played with his full compliment of players. Not many.
Those are just a couple of examples off the top of my head.
Please let’s just stop whining about Millen and let’s get some positive energy behind this team.

Look, maybe I am a moron as well, but I still believe in Millen. Maybe I should get my head checked, but it is my opinion.
I agree with you on all the points, I really do. I was one of the people that thought the Mooch hire was great, how the hell were we suppose to know? I think the biggest problem with Mooch was he did not want to adapt to his players, he wanted them to adapt to his ways. Well, I think we all know we do not have the personel for that. Yes, I know Millen hired the guy and the haters will say “Shouldn’t he have known?” but at the time the Mooch hire was very popular.
Also, look at the draft two years ago man, think about it. The Lions trade down one pick to the Browns for their pick below them and a later pick. Who did the Browns get? TE Winslow, whom the Lions were not even interested in. Whom did the Lions get by making the move? Roy and Jones, whom I think can both be features on this offense once the offense is tailored to them.
Look, I for one think Millen should have gotten this last chance, but this has to be exactly that, his last chance. How about that “angel on the Christmas tree story” Millen told, how cool of a family story is that? Later.

Things such as the “Fire Millen” movement have a limited shelf life.
The fans got some of the frustration out of their system. It was fun, media took notice, and the point was made. Millen’s not getting fired, time to move on.
The positive feelings the Marinelli hire seems to be getting shows that the public are finally moving on. It also helps that the ambush style questioning by the likes of Parker and Caputo also helped give Millen a little sympathy spin.
If the Lions get offf to a fast start next season, all will be forgiven. But have another season like this last one, the gloves will come off again.
