More on Harrington/Garcia and the 2005 NFL schedule

Here’s another Lions quarterback fantasy update from Draft Sharks, as well as an announcement for the upcoming 2005 NFL schedule.

QB Joey Harrington doesn’t hink his job is in jeopardy this season. “I don’t think there’s any question about how I fit in,” Harrington said Tuesday. “I’m the quarterback of the Detroit Lions, and we’ve got to win games. That’s how I fit in.” However, Jeff Garcia’s signing gives the Lions their first legitimate experienced backup QB since Harrington’s rookie season in 2002. Coach Steve Mariucci emphasizes that Garcia is coming in as a backup, but that’s what he’s supposed to say until the preseason. Garcia was a top-5 QB under Mariucci for four years in San Francisco; plus, Ted Tollner replaced Sherm Lewis as offensive coordinator, and Tollner was an assistant coach for Garcia’s last two seasons in San Francisco. Then, late last week, the Lions got a visit from Utah’s Alex Smith, one of the top-3 QBs available in the April 23-24 draft.

NFL Network will release the NFL’s 2005 regular-season schedule at 2 p.m. ET today. It also will be released on NFL.com simultaneously. NFL Network will air an encore presentation in primetime at 7 p.m. ET. In addition to highlighting the key matchups of the 2005 season, the special will feature interviews with current players, coaches and broadcasters to gauge their reactions to the schedule as it comes out.

Just one Sunday night game, no Mondays, too bad.

Harrington better turn it around this season, if he can’t drive down the field with the game on the line I want him benched. I’m tire of losing by 6 or 7 points.

Oh, and by the way, your latest scores is wrong. Pistons beat Chicago in OT, 85-84, not Washington.

Wow, long time no blogging! Damn, am I sick because I missed it, or is that normal! Just finally posted a little over at the forehead, but here is what I think on Joey.

The dude has got three games, that is about it. Mooch didn’t bring Garcia in here to just hold a clipboard! I think Mooch drafts a QB, somewhere in round two or three. That way he has a QB he picked, not a Morningweg leftover pipe dream piece of junk!! After Joey starts 1-2, Garcia gets the nod in game #4 and leads the Lions to a 10-6 record and the division title. All along Mooch is working with his drafted QB because Garcia ain’t exactly a spring chicken and Joey is left with a clipboard and a bottle of champagne on the sidelines!

Hang in there Lions fans, Joey’s days are numbered - thank god! Later!
