MSU has 4 high-profile recruits coming in
East Lansing (AP) - Joanne P. McCallie spent her first five seasons at Michigan State building a nationally prominent program.
Her next challenge is keeping it that way.
The Spartans (33-4), who lost to Baylor in the national title game Tuesday, appear to have the pieces in place to be a consistent, top-tier program.
McCallie, the Associated Press Coach of the Year, is young and energetic. Three starters and a few key reserves will be back next season, joined by four high-profile recruits.
“We’ve built an incredible foundation,” McCallie said Wednesday, shortly after returning to campus from the Final Four in Indianapolis. “That is what is going to be able to carry us. And we have the motivation. We feel like we didn’t finish what we started.”
