My Detroit Insider gave me the heads up on this…
Detroit (Ticker) - The Detroit Tigers further stocked their bullpen Wednesday, acquiring reliever Kyle Farnsworth and a player to be named from the Chicago Cubs for three minor leaguers.
The move comes less than three months after the Tigers signed former Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim closer Troy Percival to a two-year contract.
The Cubs received pitcher Roberto Novoa, infielder Scott Moore and outfielder Clarence Flowers from the Tigers in the deal.
Farnsworth has a 95-mile-per-hour fastball, but has struggled to live up to his potential. The Tigers hope changing leagues will help the 28-year-old Farnsworth, who had spent his entire career in the Cubs’ organization.
My view: Great trade! Farnsworth has always shown potential, and has a big arm. The Tigers didn’t really give up anything to take a chance on him. This could be a steal!
