FSN Detroit is providing a winter warm-up for baseball fans with encore presentations of six memorable games from the 2004 Tigers season.
The following “Best of the Tigers” games air in a two-hour format from 8-10 p.m. on selected Tuesdays between Jan. 18 and March 8.
Jan. 18: Tigers at Blue Jays — played April 5, 2004 (season opener). The first look at the newcomers to the Tigers lineup, several of whom contributed to the 7-0 victory at the SkyDome.
Feb. 1: Tigers vs. Twins — played April 8, 2004 (home opener). Fresh from three consecutive victories in Toronto, the Tigers come home to an enthusiastic atmosphere at Comerica Park. Timely hitting fueled the Tigers’ 10-6 victory.
Feb. 8: Tigers vs. Diamondbacks — played June 26, 2004. A Saturday night sellout crowd is treated to a thrilling 7-6 Tigers interleague victory, thanks to Eric Munson’s ninth-inning home run.
Feb. 15: Tigers vs. Diamondbacks — played June 27, 2004. The Tigers pull out a 9-5 victory, thanks to Carlos Pena’s grand slam with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning. It was the Tigers’ second walk-off homer in as many games.
March 1: Tigers vs. Indians — played June 29, 2004. The Tigers tie a team record with their third consecutive walk-off home run, this time courtesy of Dmitri Young, whose two-run homer in the 11th provides a 9-7 victory.
March 8: Tigers vs. White Sox — played Aug. 23, 2004. The promise of Jeremy Bonderman comes shining through when he strikes out a career-high 14 in a 7-0 victory over the White Sox.
