Here’s some articles from the “Great White North”. It’s snowing like crazy, a perfect time for some skiing and hockey articles.
Manistee’s Janowiak already holds national title

Traverse City - Manistee’s Lyndee Janowiak, one of three northwest Michigan skiers named by Ski Racing magazine as one of the top 100 junior racers in the United States, already has one up on Traverse City’s Andrew Wagner and Austin Johnson.
Janowiak, 17, has her own Web site, at www.lyndeejanowiak.com.
Friends and supporters of Janowiak, who tied for 74th in Ski Racing magazine’s junior rankings, have had plenty to read about lately.
The high school senior, a member of the Park City (Utah) Ski Team, is the reigning United States Ski Association J2 national champion in the giant slalom.
Wagner rated No. 9 among U.S. junior racers

Traverse City - Andrew Wagner is living life on the edge.
Is it the edge of skiing greatness? Some believe that it’s possible.
But the 19-year-old Traverse City native knows he may teeter on that edge for years before his final skiing fate is determined.
“Some of the top racers in the world are in their 30s,” Wagner said Wednesday between slalom runs of the Chevrolet Super Series NorAm races in Bethel, Maine. “So I have a few years.”
Wagner, a 2004 Traverse City Christian graduate, has already made a splash. Ski Racing magazine recently published a list of the United States’ top 100 junior alpine racers and Wagner was tied for ninth - fourth among males.
Larger tourneys thrive
Central, Gaylord events draw raves from coaches

Traverse City - Tournament time isn’t limited to March in hockey.
A pair of local tourneys that strayed outside the boundaries of traditional four-team fields have been getting high praise from coaches participating in them.
Gaylord’s Division 3 Challenge - a 10-team, two-day tourney pitting five downstate teams against five northern Michigan squads - was a big success in its first year, and team officials hope the event will continue on for a long time.
Meanwhile, the expanded and revamped Holiday Hockey Tournament - set up more like a true tournament than the previous six-team slate - put on by Traverse City Central was also given high marks by coaches.
