(Sports Network) - The Detroit Lions will be represented at the 2005 Pro Bowl in Hawaii by three players, including defensive tackle Shaun Rogers, cornerback Dre’ Bly and return specialist Eddie Drummond.

Drummond, a Penn State product, has been the most game-changing Lion this season despite being out for the season with a shoulder injury. The 24-year- old became one of two players in NFL history to return four kicks (kickoffs or punts) for touchdowns in a season. Drummond actually registered a pair of returns for a score in the fourth quarter against Jacksonville.

Rogers, a University of Texas product, has been a key cog in the Lions’ run defense, which is tied for second in the NFC in yards allowed per carry (3.7). The 345-pound tackle has posted 73 tackles, four sacks, two blocked kicks and a fumble recovery.

Bly, a University of North Carolina product, has recorded 41 tackles and four interceptions, including a touchdown return. The six-year veteran is heading to his second Pro Bowl.

Additionally, three more offensive stars — rookie tailback Kevin Jones, fullback Cory Schlesinger and guard Damien Woody — have been chosen as alternates for the Feb. 13 game in Hawaii.

My view: Rogers and Drummond deserve it, and Bly has been playing better after miss the first few games with injury. It’s exciting to see Jones named to the team. 6 Lions! That’s great. The young talent will continue to improve and if the Lions can get consistent play from Joey, they will definitely contend next year and beyond.
