Weekend Wrapup
Lions: Holding on to the slim hope of a playoff berth. They will definitely have to play better than they did on Sunday. Joey was average at best, but Kevin Jones was the real hero with 196 yards rushing and a touchdown. He said he wanted to get 1000 yards rushing this year and he might have a chance. It was nice to see Mooch not forget about him in the second half.
Pistons: Still hovering around .500 after a tough loss to the Spurs and a blowout win over the Hornets. They are still trying to figure out how to play defense with the new rules.
Tigers: Still in the Pavano hunt. They should have a real solid offseason.
Wolverines Football: Off to the Rose Bowl to play….Texas? Texas jumped over California in the last BCS poll so took the Big 10/Pac 10 matchup away. This will be a touch matchup for the Wolverines, but could end up being one of the best bowl games of the season. That and we get Miami vs. Florida. Awesome.
Wolverines Basketball: A big win over Notre Dame, but the loss of Lester Abrahms for the season is tough.
Spartans Football: A disappointing end to a disappointing season. Some highs (Wisconsin, MIchigan) and some lows (Rutgers, Penn St., Hawaii) made for a long season. Look for Stanton to start next season healthy and take the Spartans to a bowl.
Spartans Basketball: Ouch. A bad loss to GW, but they rebounded with an unimpressive win over George Mason. Not the weekend Coach Izzo I am sure envisioned.
Other Sports: USC vs. Oklahoma for the national title and Auburn will be odd-man out. I wish they would have put Utah against Auburn in a bowl, that would have been fun. Urban Meyer says no to Notre Dame and takes the Florida job. No surprise here, he is a good coach but knows when their is talent and Florida has alot more than the Irish. High school basketball starts this week and we get to have our first boy’s home game in our new gym. Should be very exciting.
